About

One thing, properly

MrPolo makes the knitted polo. Not a range that happens to include knitwear — knitwear is the entire point, and the polo is the only shape we are interested in.

It started from a gap. The shirts we wanted either cost four times what they should, or were jersey polos pretending to be knitted ones. There was very little in between, and nothing at all in between made in India.

Knitted, not cut

Everything here is knitted to shape rather than cut and sewn from woven cloth. It is slower and it is fussier and it is the reason the stripes sit inside the fabric instead of printed on top of it. Run your hand across a colour change on The Awning and the texture carries straight through. That is the whole argument for doing it this way.

Small runs, and what that costs you

Nine colourways at a time, made in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. When a colour sells through, it either returns or it retires. We would rather retire a shade than dilute it into something safer that sells for longer.

The honest cost of that: the thing you liked may not be there in six months. The honest benefit: nothing in the range is there to fill a gap on a rail.

The fit

Regular. Not oversized, not slim. Straight through the body with a soft shoulder and a collar that rolls rather than standing to attention. S to XL across every piece. Between sizes, take the smaller — knit gives.

How we would rather work

Free shipping, because charging for delivery on a ₹1,700 shirt is a way of pretending it costs ₹1,600. Seven-day exchanges with the first one on us, because sizing knitwear off a screen is genuinely hard and that should be our problem, not yours. And a real person on the other end of the email, usually within a day.

Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. Shipping across India.
